So, it's time for me to get a new car.

I currently have an Infiniti I35 Sedan; has 50 thousand miles. When I took it to California with me, I crashed the sh*t out of it. Like, it's literally destroyed.

My parents, being the generous people they are, and the creators of my good looks, have offered to pick up the tab for a new car.

The budget isn't anything spectacular--$15,000, but I'm grateful for it.

So I came here looking for advice.

Criteria:

  1. No more than 15,000.
  2. It's brand new, or has less than 5 thousand miles.
  3. It doesn't come with a dead hooker in the trunk.

I may put some of my own money to help finance the car, so I'm not entirely a spoiled brat, but as it is, I have to pay for my own college, apartment, etc.

Any help?

Neon.  Cheap reliable cars, i'm not a fan of them but they are within your budget.   You may also want to look into some pontiacs, they are much better looking cars and still very affordable.  Possibly a Grand Prix, now with something like this you won't be getting the luxuries like power windows and locks... but still good.

I suggest going to websites such as http://www.Pontiac.com - www.Pontiac.com or http://www.Dodge.com - www.Dodge.com .  These sites have a biuld your own car section.  Many sites do now, the wonders of the internet eh?

Thanks for the suggestions thus far, guys.

Pontiacs do have a lot of power for the price, which I've always enjoyed about those cars.

But I don't really like the lack of an understated look in the Pontiac line. I'd prefer getting an all-around car that has some touch of beauty to it.

For example, tomorrow, I'm test driving the Toyota Yaris (sedan), in midnight blue with tan seats. It's around 15,000 fully optioned.

Not bad, eh?

Also, I have the option of getting an 05 (or 06) Camry XLE (12,000 miles), with leather and power everything; however, the gas mileage is like 22 MPG in real world use.

Can't really beat the Yaris if you just want an econobox.

the thing that scares me about the neons is they do really crappy in crash tests. something you might be interested in with your recent experience.

the camry sounds like a fair deal. if you're looking new this thing looked interesting. car and driver liked it too, and it got a 5 star crash test rating for frontal impact.

it's not going to burn up the racetrack but looks stylish, functional, and being a honda, you know it's reliable.

Jaguar S-Type 4.0  Do it.

But really, I'd say a new Pontiac G6, Neon (like mad said, lawl), Honda Fit, which is what my roomate was looking into.  Stock in Honda/Hundai, and Toyot have gone up, they have the cars with good gas milage.  I know Honda Accord / Civic have high resell value, so you could go with an 02 - 03 for that much.

I actually make my last car payment tom.   I drive a grand prix. Sometimes.
