Are those 2 Raptors going to be enough HD space for you? I'm curious about the X2 4400+. Do you do a lot of multimedia/multi tasking? Or will this be a gaming machine?

I have a 36gb Raptor and I love it.

2 raptors will be for gaming. I have a 60 gig I can shove in if I need more space

Hopefully, once I get the rig, besides teh gaming, I'll do some multimedia and multi tasking in a few months. When I have a lot of free time...

Looking at benchmarks, the 4400+ did good in  games and I think it'll do good for it's price

Anywho, I've ordered it and should get it soonish ... (soonish)

The price/performance ratio just isn't there yet with the dual core athlons, as they are still pretty pricy. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend though, and if it is worth it in your mind.

why dont you do what preach is doing (and what sk1tz0 has done)

get an opteron and you can overlock it to FX-57 on AIR safley

sk1tz0 was playing last night with an x300 but 2gb ram and his opteron and was getting perfect FPS :O shows how CPU and ram based PS is

What do you mean by "multimedia"?  Using it to watch movies/music, or using it to MAKE movie/music.

If you're planning on doing any serious a/v editting, you might as well go ahead and buy a coupld hundred gigs.

Goffin... the highest "official" RAM rating motherboards support is pc3200. That being said... high end motherboards from DFI, Asus etc. can support much higher speeds with proper tweaking.
