Hehe nice Jban. I got rid of my XPS Gen 2 (I returned it shortly after getting it) , I didn't realize how flashy the LED lights and case were, bad battery life, too heavy, it was drawing far too much attention...
Instead I got the same system (2.13Ghz / 2GB ddr2 pc4300 / 256mb 6800 ultra / 100gb 7200rpm / dvd+-r / bluetooth / a-b-g wifi / 17" wuxga+) but in a nice classy inspiron 9300 case... it's all white and silver, and runs even better than the XPS gen 2 (I formatted the HD after it came.. no dell/norton/symantec crap on it). I loaded gen2 BIOS on it though, hehe.
Of course, I could have done what Rag did and just disable the lights. But it also allows me to take it apart and mod it to support the new 7800 gtx mobile card, since Dell is charging, what, 600$ for it? You can ebay one for half the price, get the right heat pipes and sink, remove the keyboard to install it all nice and what not, with some artic silver... there's also a fair bit of room under the keyboard, there are copper plate mods you can do to increase heat dissipation across the laptop surface (so the bottom memory area doesnt become such an oven).
I'll post some pics of my setup some time, complete with the Palm T|X, Apple Ipod, mouse, keyboard, 19" LCD and of course, a glass of coke and a cup of tea...
