They don't really "lose" any money because of me downloading it, because I wasn't going to buy the game if I didn't get it from irc.
Game prices are too high anyway. When you can spend over $100 dollars on two games, thats not right. Drop game prices down to a reasonable price, and maybe I'll start buying more

Lawl yes, its IS getting harder to crack the myriad of securerom etcs, like my current issue with Empire At War. That alone probably forced several hundred to just give up and go buy it if they want it bad enough.
Thing is, the only games I buy are online-BF2, PS, WOW(mistake) etc. You can't just download those and get them to work really.
However, FEAR, Imperial Glory, RTW etc, play the crap out fo those singleplayer focused games.

Many tricks to get it to work:
Using Alcohol 120 to make a DVD disc - best
Using Daemon Tools 4/CureROM profile - works for some Using Alcohol 120/CureROM - works Using Antisecurom 7 with Daemon Tools 4 - works Using Pr0t St0p to hide Daemon when installing image...
Until a working no-CD comes out... it's all luck and frustration.

I'd rather drink alcohol.
Nakatah, I might get the game for multiplayer as well. Hit me up

I remember with the 3rd prince of perisa, you had to pull out the power of you CD drive to get it to work

Hehe, yeah, with Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, they were using StarForce protection, which was brand new at the time. You needed to disable drives, mount the image via a USB DVD, then use a keygen, run a proxy to bypass the online key authentication... in the end I just bought the game for 49.99 and enjoyed a fast legit copy (I'm a huge Splinter Cell fan btw, so it's ok to buy!)
The game's cracked now, and in bargain bins for 12$... but at the time, it was so worth it.

Reloaded released a fixed EXE. You still need to mount the image (or have a CD in your drive), but it removes the SecuROM protection. I tested it, works.
First, patch to 1.02 http://support.lucasarts.com/patches/EAW1_2.htm (scroll down to bottom, download)
Then, replace files in the GameData folder with these ones.
