well i'm lookin to get a computer and i was wondering if i got a 7800gt vid card what processor (AMD 64) and how much ram should i have to match the card?  or if i got a 6800 card then what processor and how much memory should i have... i'm just trying to figure out what i should get with what for the cheapest amount of money.  thanks.

planetside runs great with 1gb

I have heard you dont need more than a gig but that was 2 years ago, and some of the new things on the horizon might run better with 2gigs if you can afford it.

I have 1gb ram but an older card

I recently upgraded my PC, and part of that upgrade was going from 1gb to 2gb of RAM. PS does in fact run smoother w/ 2gb of ram. I notice a difference. I also upgraded my video card to a 7800 GT, which also helps A LOT.

alright sweet thanks... i'm probably go for the 7800gt compliments of preach and the two gigs comp. window cleaner, and does anyone have any suggestions on what kinda processor i should get with that setup?

Well... I'd go with an AMD A64 for sure. Your choice if you want an X2 (dual core) or a single core flavour. THe sweet spot for the price seems to be around A64 3700+ or dual core the X2 4000+.
