If I had to choose one word to describe UFC 61 it would be "LAME"!

The Ortiz vs. Shamrock fight was a huge disappointment. I think the ref could have let it go a little longer, but I guess it is best to be safe rather than sorry. Shamrock was eating about 5 unanswered elbows to the face before it was stopped. I'm glad Ortiz won, but I wanted to see him pound the living hell out of Shamrock for longer than a minute. I knew Shamrock was going to lose though. He is an over the hill loud mouth who thinks everyone in the UFC today owes him something. I'm glad Ortiz shut him up. But I'm still pissed that Shamrock didn't have anything to offer Ortiz after all that crap he talked.

Now for the BIGGEST disappointment of the entire night; Silvia vs. Arlovski. That was the most BORING 25 minute fight I have ever watched. Arlovski just didn't look like the same guy. It looked like he lost whatever fire was driving him before and he just didn't have anything to offer Silvia. Now Silvia... he was fighting a purely technical fight. Countering Arlovski's right hand or just placing himself in positions where Arlovski couldn't do anything effective. In my opinion Arlovski should have stuck with those leg kicks he was delivering to Silvia in the first round. Those leg kicks would have paid off BIG time in cutting down on Silvia's mobility and his ability to counter punch with that right hook that picked Arlovski apart throughout the rounds.

I was completely disappointed with UFC 61. In my opinion it was the most boring out of all the UFC's I have seen. If I was a paying fan, or paid for pay-per-view, I would have been seriously pissed at the piss poor show that I saw.

Anyone else have thoughts on the fights?

The fights sucked hardcore.  I want my $40 back.

The only good part was the announcement of Chuck vs. Wanderlei in November.  Iceman vs. Axe Murderer, UFC champ vs. Pride champ, I can't wait.  Gawd I hope Chuck doesnt lose to Babalu in August now.  I also read on Sherdog that Pride is sending Phil Baroni over to fight against a top 185er (speculation is Loiseau) on the same night as Chuck vs. Wandy.  For those who don't know much about Wanderlei, here's a clip of him beating Rampage Jackson, who beat Liddell in 2003 I think.

It was obvious most of the crowd didn't know who Wanderlei was... that was a monumental announcement for MMA fans.

Yea Khemo... most of the people there had no clue who this guy was. I like when Wanderlei said he wanted to "f**k chuck" and then corrected himself to "fight chuck in the ring".

I think Chuck will beat Babalu, but it will be a good and challening fight for him. I just don't see Babalu beating Chuck. I can't wait for the Chuck vs. Wanderlei fight in November. It's going to be such a good fight.

I downloaded a post fight press conference with Ortiz, Silvia, and Dana White (UFC President) and White said the UFC would have Wanderlei for three fights total. So it should be some pretty good action out of him in the upcoming UFC's.

What I really want to see is Ortiz vs. Shamrock 3. I would absolutely love to see Ortiz beat Shamrock's face to pieces. In the post fight press conference a reporter asked Ortiz if he felt the fight was stopped too early. Ortiz replied that he agreed with the stopage, and would fight Shamrock again. Ortiz also added that the fight stoppage was needed, and that he didn't really want to be the first person in the UFC to kill another fighter. That is some serious hate between those two guys. In the end though Shamrock is just an over the hill loudmouth who can't accept that his time has long since passed.
