Just thought I'd drop you guys a short info notice.  Many of you probably already know how to block the annoying ads in Planetside, but for those that don't and would like to, you can find directions over on my blog at http://wearyman.blogspot.com.

Don't worry, no ads there. I'm not making any money on this.  I'm just taking the time to get the word out so we can all have a better playing experience.

What is this "Planetside" you speak of?

 

 

Oh my god that is getting annoying.  I was gonna see the movie orginally, but now that I have seen that so many times I dont think I could.

The attached batch file automates this process for those that aren't well versed enough to be editing host files.

Make sure you close all web apps before running, including PS.

This works for Windows 2000 and XP, I make no promises for 9x and ME (in fact, I doubt it will work for those).

The contents of the batch file are as follows

echo 127.0.0.1    madserver.net>>C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

echo 127.0.0.1       imp.madserver.net>>C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hos ts
echo 127.0.0.1      media.madserver.net>>C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\h osts
nbtstat -R

The first four lines are simply amending the massive ad server entries to the end of your host file.

The fifth line reloads your remote name cache (ie. host file entries).  Your machine does this every time you reboot.  This just prevents you from having to do so.


You shouldn't expect to have to deal with advertisements for a game that you're already paying for..  Besides, where is all of the new development and marketing PS was supposed to recieve because of this new influx of revenue? 

Besides that "bow wow" kid, I really enjoyed the movie, better than the 2nd at least.
